Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect the minimum we need to give you access to your lessons: your name, your email, and what you have purchased. Stripe handles your card, and we never see or store the full number. We do not sell your information to anyone. If you want your account and data deleted, ask us and we will do it.

The full policy below is what governs. The summary is here so you do not have to guess what it says.

Overview

Virtually There Teaching (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides on-demand AP and Honors Chemistry video lessons through this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or creating an account, you agree to the practices described here.

What we collect

Information you give us. Your first and last name, email address, and the username and password you choose when you register for a free or paid account. Any message you send us through our contact form or by email.

Purchase information. Which plan or unit you bought, when you bought it, when your access starts and ends, and your billing status. Your card details go directly to our payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically. Your device type, browser, IP address, the pages you view, and which lessons you watch and how far through them you get. This keeps the service secure, tells us which lessons are working, and shows you your own progress.

How we use it

We use your information to create and run your account, unlock the lessons you paid for, process payments and renewals, track your progress through a course, answer your questions, and send you account and service messages such as receipts, renewal notices, and password resets.

Where you have agreed to it, we may also send occasional updates about new lessons or offers. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your access to what you paid for.

We use aggregated information that does not identify you to understand how the service is used and to improve the lessons.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s secure fields and are handled under Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy. We receive a confirmation of the transaction, the last four digits of the card, and your subscription status. We do not have access to your full card number, and we cannot charge a card outside the plan you signed up for.

Third parties we use

We rely on a small number of providers to run the service. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:

  • Stripe for payments and subscription billing.
  • Vimeo for hosting and streaming the lesson videos.
  • Our email provider for receipts, password resets, and account notices.
  • Website analytics to measure traffic and site performance in aggregate.

We do not give any of these providers permission to use your information for their own marketing.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the site performs. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but if you block them you will not be able to stay signed in, which means you will not be able to watch your lessons.

Students under 18

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

If you are between 13 and 18, you may use the service with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian, and you should register only with their knowledge. We collect no more information from a student than we need to provide the lessons and track progress.

A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review the information held in a student’s account, correct it, or ask us to delete the account entirely. We will verify that the request comes from the parent or guardian before we act on it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open, and afterwards only for as long as we need it to meet legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your name and email by signing in to your account. You can unsubscribe from non-essential email using the link at the bottom of those messages. You can ask us to send you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the General Data Protection Regulation. We apply the rights described above to everyone, wherever you are, rather than only where the law requires it. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your information, or your student’s information, to build advertising profiles.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection, passwords are stored hashed rather than in plain text, and card data never touches our servers. We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

Contact us

Questions about this policy, or want your information reviewed or deleted? Reach us through our contact page or by email at virtuallythereteaching@gmail.com. We aim to answer privacy requests within 30 days.
