Chemistry Explained the Way It Should Be

25 years. Hundreds of students. One mission: make chemistry click for everyone.

In His Own Words

Why I Built Virtually There Teaching

Twenty-five years ago, I walked into my first chemistry classroom. I loved the subject — but I quickly realized that loving chemistry and teaching chemistry are two completely different skills.

Over the years I learned something critical: students don't fail chemistry because they're not smart enough. They fail because the material hasn't been presented in a way that makes sense to them.

I built Virtually There Teaching to put everything I've learned into a format you can access anytime — on your schedule, at your pace, as many times as you need.

"I think students learn differently today than they did 75 years ago. VTT gives you the freedom to choose when you learn — and to rewatch a lesson as many times as you need."

The Four Questions That Make Chemistry Stick

I've never been one for memorization. Every lesson is built around these four questions that turn abstract chemistry into something real.

01

Why do we care?

Connect the concept to something real before touching the formula. Context first, always.

02

How do we describe it?

Build the right mental model first. Understanding the concept before solving anything.

03

How did we get here?

Understand the logic behind the idea. Chemistry has reasons — learn them and it sticks.

04

How do we solve it?

Apply the concept step-by-step — only after you actually understand what you're doing.

Questions Students Ask

How long have you been in education?

I started my career almost 25 years ago. I've had the privilege of working with students from all walks of life — from public schools to elite independent institutions. For about 20 of those years I taught AP Chemistry and averaged scores above a 4 most years, with several occasions where all of my students passed the exam.

We focus on big-picture understanding — no memorization-only tricks. We use real examples, metaphors, and checklists to make concepts stick. Chemistry is a course where concepts stack one on top of the other. If the foundation is weak, everything built on top will collapse. We ensure foundations are rock solid so everything becomes much easier.

Because students learn differently today. We're no longer confined to an in-person class at a specific time and place. VTT gives students the freedom to choose when they learn and at the pace they're ready for. I wanted to take my 25 years of knowing exactly where students struggle and put it into a format they could access on their terms.

I have a deep understanding of exactly where students get stuck. The confusing moments are predictable — I've seen them thousands of times. So I now focus on teaching the big picture, connecting concepts across topics, and spending extra time precisely where pitfalls and confusion happen.
